OUR ALTERNATE PLAN FOR MOORE PARK SOUTH
On October 28th 2025, the NSW Government released its Enablement Plan, which proposes reducing Moore Park Golf Course from 18 holes to 9. We understand that this announcement may cause concern for our community who hold Moore Park Golf close to their hearts.
Please be assured that we are actively engaging with the Government to present a strong case for why maintaining an 18-hole course is the best way forward. We firmly believe that the current Alternate Proposal that we have presented to the Government, provides the best solution to improve the recreational, social, and sporting facilities in Moore Park.
WHY THE ALTERNATE PROPOSAL SHOULD BE CONSIDERED
Overall Benefits
- Retains the full 18-hole golf course instead of reducing it to 9-holes
- Repurposes only 13ha of golf land (vs. 20ha in the Government plan)
- Addresses the 2040 Master Plan, maximizing underused land and improving connectivity and recreation for all users
- Deliver four new parks and new public spaces across the precinct rather than one single park
- Provides better balance between recreation, sport, and open space without compromising golf participation
Golf and Sporting Amenities
- Retains full 18-hole layout that starts and finishes at the clubhouse
- Improves golf amenities, including infrastructure and practice facilities
- Includes relocation and upgrade of Moore Park Tennis Courts (rather than removal).
- Maintains ES Marks Athletics Field with no change.
New and Enhanced Parks
- Regional Park (14ha) – new recreation and activity areas on underused land, including:
- Active recreation & youth zone
- Adventure/nature play space
- Dog park
- Mini golf
- Fitness trails
- Mt Steele lookout
- Nature & relaxation areas
- Central Neighbourhood and Connector Park (1.6ha) – with picnic spaces, linear trails, and cycle paths.
- South Park (4.2ha) – new connector park at Todman Avenue, picnic shelters, and cycle path connections.
- East Park (1.3ha) – outdoor fitness zone and relocation of old maintenance space.
Parking and Infrastructure Improvements
New multi-storey car park (1ha) with rooftop recreation space.
- 500 parking spaces built into elevated car park.
- Rooftop for sport or passive open space.
- Includes maintenance facilities and potential child care or performance centre.
- Reduces game-day parking demand in Moore Park East and increases parking capacity overall.
